Data webinar - Learn more about regional economic statistics

Continuing our Thursday webinar series, we'll host another on April 26, 2012. This will be the final webinar before the contest ends.

Who: Anyone interested in developing applications designed to illustrate the local impact of national economic trends and events.

What: This session will provide an overview of the best tools to measure local economic trends: the regional economic statistics produced by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). BEA produces measures of personal income and gross domestic product for sub-national geographic areas, including state, county, and metropolitan-area measures. Government leaders and their advisors rely on BEA’s regional statistics to develop (and measure the impact of) economic policies at both the local and the national levels. During this session we’ll take a look at the regional data sets available on BEA’s website and discuss a few ideas for developing apps that depend on them.
